Export & share
Choose a format that fits the destination, then check the file your audience will actually receive. Keep the project so you can make another version later.
01Choose MP4 or GIF
Open the edited recording and use the export action. Select the format for the way you plan to share it.
| Format | Use it for | Keep in mind |
|---|---|---|
| MP4 | Narrated tutorials, product demos, and video uploads | Check sound and readability in the exported video. |
| GIF | A short, silent loop in documentation or a message | GIF has no audio and can grow large with duration and image size. |
02Set the output for its destination
Check the dimensions and quality options shown by your installed version. Use the receiving platform’s requirements as the starting point; increasing output size cannot recover missing source detail.
- Preview the section you intend to share, including its beginning and ending.
- Check that the chosen framing does not crop captions, controls, or the camera.
- For GIF, keep the action short and use only as much image size and motion detail as the destination needs.
- Choose the output location and wait for export to finish before opening the file.
03Activate export access
Recording and editing are free. MP4 and GIF export require an active subscription or trial. Sign in with the account connected to your purchase or trial.
The 7-day trial requires a payment method. Cancel before the trial ends to avoid a charge; otherwise the selected plan renews at $3.99/month or $35.88/year ($2.99/month billed annually). Both plans support 3 personal Macs. Downloading the app alone does not activate the trial.
If you have already paid but export is unavailable, check the account and billing status before purchasing again. See Troubleshooting for the checks to make.
