Captions

Make narration easier to follow, including when viewers watch on mute. Generate captions, then check the words and their timing before sharing.

01Start with clear recorded speech

Open a recording that contains the narration you want to caption. Play it first and confirm that the intended voice is audible; subtitles cannot recover speech that was never captured.

Fancy Rec offers local AI captions. Give the recognizer a clear voice track by reducing competing sound in the recording.

02Generate and review the text

Use the caption generation feature in the editor and wait for processing to finish. Review the output while listening to the recording rather than reading the text in isolation.

  1. Check names, technical terms, and numbers against the audio.
  2. Correct misheard words and punctuation with the caption editing controls.
  3. Check that each caption appears with the matching phrase.
  4. Replay the start and end of sentences after making changes.
Automatic captions in a Fancy Rec recording. Review generated text before publishing.

03Keep captions easy to read

Use the available caption styling controls to choose a readable appearance. Preview on both bright and dark frames and at the size of the finished video.

Keep captions away from controls and results being demonstrated. If camera overlays occupy the same area, adjust the layout so neither the speaker nor the words cover important content.

04Check the exported result

Export a short section or review the finished MP4 and check that captions remain readable during zooms and transitions. Watch once without sound: the key explanation should still make sense.

Do not assume the exported captions are a separate editable subtitle file. Check the export options actually offered by your installed version before planning a subtitle-file workflow.

Put this into your next recording

Recording and editing are free. Choose a plan when you are ready to export.
